Hiking Tips

Here is a discussion on several subjects relating to walking. Some discussion will be PCT-specific, some will be relevant for all long-distance walkers and other discussions relate broadly to all walking.

Thru-hike?

If you attempt to walk the entire trail in one go (or one season, at least) it is known as a thru-hike. You can choose to walk a shorter section of it (say 500 miles or a state) and you’ll be tagged as a section-hiker or enjoy shorter stints as a weekend or day hiker. Do whatever resonates with you, all hikers seem to get along very well out there and the distance-snobs are extremely rare and better avoided all together, if you ask me.
